How to assemble and use the SenseCraft wet palette

Choose a size, prepare your paper and sponge, and understand the optional gasket.

Choose a size before printing

Measure your paper and sponge length and width. The customizer accepts different dimensions and uses the larger value on each axis to size the reservoir. Set sponge thickness and the wet margin too.

The presets fit refills of approximately 180 × 137 mm (Small), 225 × 155 mm (Medium) and 289 × 191 mm (Large). Check the full lid size against your print area: 199 × 156, 246 × 176 and 310 × 212 mm respectively. Large is a single-piece print.

Parts and materials

Set out the base, lid, paper and sponge. Print the base and lid in PLA, PETG or ASA. The optional gasket is a separate TPU 95A print.

For the base and lid, use the profile for your material: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.20 mm layers, four walls, five top and bottom layers and 10–15% Gyroid. The gasket uses 100% infill and is printed flat without supports.

Optional gasket

If using a gasket, seat it in the lid’s continuous channel. Check that it follows the entire channel before closing. The detail image shows the TPU part’s position relative to the base rim.

Closing the lid compresses the gasket against the rim to help reduce air exchange and evaporation. You can also use the palette without it.

Prepare the painting surface

  1. Saturate the sponge with water and place it in the reservoir.
  2. Lay the paper on the sponge in full contact. Check for raised edges or areas of paper.
  3. Avoid standing water in the reservoir. Adjust the water by checking the sponge and paper contact rather than using a fixed volume.
  4. Use the surface with water-based acrylic paints. Paper, sponge and ambient conditions affect how it behaves while painting.

After use

Clean the reservoir, rinse the sponge and gasket, and allow all parts to dry completely before storage. Paper, sponge selection and ambient conditions affect the working surface.

Care and use

Moisture and paint behavior vary with paper, sponge and conditions. Check paper contact and the water level while painting.
